Hello Students and Parents,
Keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks … we are almost to October (crazy, right?), and we have exciting studio projects coming up! Next week’s email will be sent with October’s invoice and more project details 😊
And now for this month’s Book Recommendation …
Music has been around and carried us through some of the deepest and darkest moments in history. Hold On To Your Music tells the story of Jewish pianist, Lisa Jura, and how music carried her through the holocaust and her trip away from her parents in Vienna to England. This inspiring story is proof of the power of music in our lives!
Adults – I have also recently had Digital Minimalism on the nightstand. Cal Newport is a Computer Science professor at Georgetown. He is not against technology in the slightest but gives a strong case for and steps to follow out what he calls digital minimalism: Using technology to enhance our pre-determined values versus fitting our values to the way we use technology. He doesn’t tell you what your values should be, but he gives plenty of practical and transferable advice if you are willing to transform your technology use for the better. I’m still working on applying this – but because of his interesting, well-researched and varied writing style, he has me completely sold on the idea!
Happy Reading,
~McKenzie
