Students and Parents,

It’s that time of the month where I want you to stop for a moment and think about how you are practicing. During the summer, practice isn’t always as consistent or as long, so it’s important that we make the most of every minute we have to sit down and practice 😊

For this past Spring Recital, those who participated filled out encouragement cards for others who performed. I LOVED how these turned out, and the kind words you shared with each other 😊 Hopefully you all enjoyed reading them as well.

What was interesting to me as I read though, was how many of them had phrases that sounded like the comments and feedback I might give during a typical lesson. This doesn’t surprise me … I tend to say the same things over and over, sometimes in the same way (repetition is the mother of learning).

But what this does tell me is that you ARE to some extent listening during your lessons. This week, I want to challenge you to take your practice sessions a step further. As you practice, think about what I would say. If you can critically think through the feedback I might give, you will likely be able to catch what you need to work on and fix before you next lesson!

In other news, lessons do resume this week 😊

Looking ahead to the coming dates –

There will be no lessons August 9- 13

and

Fall Schedule will begin August 23rd – for those who are switching lesson times.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all this week!

Happy Practicing!

~McKenzie
