It's that time of year again! Check out today's blog post for my "thinking out loud" approach to the tweaks and changes I made in my studio that get to stay around in the years to come :) Have you been reviewing your last year yet? Or has it been a mad dash to get to the finish line with little time to spare? Almost there, fellow piano teachers!
Have you snagged your free download of Nutcracker Spot It? Available today - it's the perfect activity to review musical concepts and add some listening/music history learning into the last few lessons before the holiday :)
Do you ever find yourself giving a really impressive talk to a student, only to have the key concepts you're trying to convey fall completely flat? I by nature am a talker, and Mozart's poignant reminder can make the difference between a fruitful lesson and an unsuccessful one. We are, after all, musicians who should be making music, not just sound ;)
This month's book recommendation has some fun and quirky facts, and is sure to keep all students interested in some fashion! Check out "The Stories of Musical Instruments" at the link below :)
Most of us have moved beyond recital season and are now either taking the summer off or buckling down for summer lessons :) No matter what the recital experience held for each student, it's important they understand that the small, daily acts of practice are what matter most in the long run!
There has been an awful lot of talk about habits lately. Check out the latest blog post to see some of my favorite habit resources and a snapshot of how all of this talk can be applied to the musician's life :)
